I’ve never hired camping gear before: how does it all work?
Hiring gear can seem scary at first, but we’re here to help! The first step is to book the gear you need through the Book Online tab. If you’re not sure what gear you need, talk to us! We can walk you through a booking over the phone or in store! Once you’ve selected your gear you’ll need to pay to lock in your booking, which is charged based on the nights the gear is out of the store. From there you’re all booked in! Come into the store on your collection date and we’ll get you to sign our Hire Terms and Conditions form. We won’t need a bond but will take your credit card details (see ‘Do I Have to Pay a Bond?’ below) and then you’ll be on your way to the great outdoors! When should I book?
It's never too early to book equipment! Booking early ensures that you get the gear you want! We always try to help out, but we use a first in, best dressed system. For Summer, Easter and Cup Weekend we get bookings over a year in advance!
DO I HAVE TO PAY A BOND?
We don't collect bonds. Instead, we will collect your credit card details at the time of collection. On the same form we will also get your signature to confirm that you have read the Hire Terms and Conditions, and to verify that you agree to compensate for any equipment not returned or unreasonably damaged. We will always contact you before charging anything to your card, but if you treat the gear with respect and return it on time, there's nothing to worry about! Please note that our privacy policy is very strict, and that your details will be taken with utmost confidentiality.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HIRING INSTEAD OF PURCHASING?
Having your own gear is great if you use it often, have the space to store it, as well as the time and knowledge to air, dry, clean and repair it. Otherwise hiring is a great option! We recommend hiring simply because it is so cheap and easy! That being said, don't hesitate to buy gear if that's what is right for you! We have a wide range of gear that you can either hire or buy, so get in touch and we can see which option will suit you best!
WHERE DO I COLLECT THE GEAR?
Pick up your gear at our shop; 3/7 Levanswell Rd, Moorabbin, Melbourne. If you are unable to pick up your equipment, delivery is an excellent option! Shoot us an enquiry, give us a call or come see us and we will let you know what the delivery fee will be. Flexible pick-up and return times are available upon request.
CAN MY FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER/PARTNER/CAMPING BUDDY PICK UP AND RETURN THE GEAR FOR ME?
Yes! If you are unable to do so yourself, someone else may pick up and return the gear for you if you let us know in advance.
IS DELIVERY AVAILABLE?
Yes! Delivery is available and a great option for those who are unable to pick up gear at our store. Shoot us an enquiry, give us a call or visit us in store and we will let you know what the delivery fee will be. We only charge enough to cover delivery, to keep the fee to an absolute minimum! *Please note that there is a surcharge involved for deliveries and pick ups outside 8am-7pm*
What happens if I damage or loose gear?
The cost of replacing or repairing damaged or lost gear will be charged to the card details as mentioned above. If the damage is only minor (wear and tear happens, we get it), then we won't charge, and it will come out of our pocket. We appreciate honesty when it comes to damaged or lost gear - the earlier you let us know, the better! If you find any lost equipment that you have replaced, we are more than happy to refund the charge.
I’VE NEVER CAMPED BEFORE, IS IT HARD?
With the right gear and good food, camping can be a blast. To make it easier, we supply instructions on use for each piece of equipment, so it's easier than ever!
I DON’T KNOW WHAT ITEMS I NEED- WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The outdoors are our passion, and we want to share it with you, so please get in touch with us! We understand that not everyone has been camping before, and we are more than happy to answer all of your questions!
I’M GOING AWAY FOR MORE THAN 2 WEEKS, CAN I STILL HIRE?
Yes of course! Get in contact with us and we'll work out a unique package just for you.
I NEED HELP WITH MY HIRE GEAR, BUT ITS OUT OF YOUR OPENING HOURS- HOW CAN I GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU?
Feel free to call us and leave a voicemail and/or send us an email. We do try to keep an eye out for any camping emergencies should they arise, but if it's out of hours we can’t guarantee we’ll be around: we are often out adventuring ourselves!
CAN I PURCHASE GEAR INSTEAD OF HIRING IT?
Yes! In addition to our hire range, we also have a large range of camping equipment for you to purchase through our Online Storeor in store!
